Actor and Son of Gerald and Betty Ford to Share Stories of Addiction and Recovery
LORAIN, OHIO – Son of former President Gerald R. Ford and Betty Ford, Steve Ford will be the keynote speaker this year at The LCADA Way Pearls of Wisdom Annual Recognition Dinner on October 27, 2016 at the Emerald Event Center in Avon, Ohio. The LCADA Way is a private, non-profit organization leading the way in addiction recovery since 1981.
Steve Ford will share stories of how he and his family struggled with addiction and recovery, as well as humorous anecdotes of behind the scenes life in the White House and Hollywood.
“We are honored and excited to have Steve Ford as the keynote speaker at our annual recognition dinner,” said Thomas Stuber, Executive Director at The LCADA Way. “Steve’s stories have been known to inspire all those that have experienced similar issues in their own lives.”
Ford’s unique perspective on life as the President’s son encompasses a broad range of subjects: being 18 years old and having 10 Secret Service agents, his father’s pardon of President Nixon, two assassination attempts on his father’s life, plus inspirational stories how the family dealt with their mother’s bouts with alcoholism and also how he conquered his own alcoholism.
An accomplished actor for over 25 years, Ford has appeared in more than 25 major motion pictures including the hit Contact with Jody Foster, Armageddon with Bruce Willis, and also played Meg Ryan’s boyfriend in When Harry Met Sally. Ford has also appeared in hundreds of television shows including 7 years on the CBS daytime Emmy winning show The Young and the Restless.
The LCADA Way Pearls of Wisdom Annual Recognition Dinner is held each year to honor individuals and organizations who help those affected by drug and alcohol addiction. The Community Service Award is presented to community leaders in recognition of their dedication and commitment to drug and alcohol awareness, addiction and recovery. Additionally, the Howard Marusa Award is presented to individuals in recognition of their selfless giving and dedication to saving lives and reuniting families impacted by drug and alcohol addiction.
Serving Lorain and Medina Counties, The LCADA Way helps individuals and their families dealing with drug and alcohol addiction. The Pearls of Wisdom Annual Recognition Dinner helps to increase awareness of addiction as well as raise funds to assist the non-profit organization in its mission of recovery. The event will include dinner, video testimonials, live and silent auctions, and an awards presentation.
